It is very durable and it only take a little to stick some thing securely. I have never torn up anything I stuck it to except a poster that wasn't laminated.
I almost never have a problem with things falling if I use the blue sticky tack the other colors don't work as well. When you want to take down the poster you pull down on the tab.
It comes right off without taking part of the wall with it. I have used them since were moved into our new building about 3 years ago and have never had difficulty.

Quick tip: When you do remove your poster, do it slowly and peel from the edges. If you need to have a little extra umph if you concerned about an old or fragile poster you can use a hair dryer or heat gun to release any old adhesive.
