What should ls1 oil pressure be

Swapped in a new used 4. My Subaru just had a similar issue. As it warmed up, the oil pressure light would come on at ever higher rpms. The sender acquired a leak, letting pressure bleed off from the switch causing it to trigger. It was a tiny crack and didn't affect the real oil pressure, only lost 2 drops of oil out of it. Sure made me nervous. I know this is an ancient thread, but what was the resolution to your low oil pressure issue? Yeah - it was the sending unit.

Replaced it and all was fine until a year later when it failed too. Got another one and it's been good since then. You can post now and register later. I have also seen pictures of how to attach an aftermarket pump on the other website. I'm not sure what you are looking for with the scanner, as far as I know scanners can't read our oil pressure due to them being mechanical gauges.

Otherwise I don't think they are sending a signal to the PCM. I may be wrong, I won't profess to say I know all with our cars. I hooked up and aftermaket gauge and it reads the same thing. Dont know what to do at this point its a guessing game for me.

Well it all gets a little more strange today its running hot at idle in gear at 13lbs, in park at idle around 18lbs, that being said it was also running 10lbs higher than normal, I am going to get it looked at in a couple weeks but im wondering if maybe the motor is sludged up from previos owners.

I have only put about miles on the car with 2 oil changes, maybe Btw does the ls6 pump push better or just better design? I'm not sure what the internal differences are specifically but it flows more the the stock LS1 does. I know of no one that recommends getting a LS1 oil pump. So what was thee verdict? I'm curious on the oil pump.

Mine runs about 50 at start then drops to around 40 after warming up. I have been using Shell Rotella D and the pressure stays up. Also cleans better than 10w30 or 5w The general rule of thumb is that you want at least 10 psi for every 1, rpm.

Curious as to how the aftermarket gauge was plumbed into the system -- did you tap into the existing sender's circuit or was a new sender installed in place of the stock OPSU? Well its still the same steady the same every day I watch it like a hawk. I took that little piece off above the oil filter and tap it out with pipe tap and hooked the gage in there.

There is a couple pictures of that on the other ls1 site. Took me about half hour and was very easy. Two bolts took it off, drill and pipe tap it im a machinist buy trade so that was easy for me hooked brass tube kit to gauge fish it back in 2 bolts and balla bing done.

As has been suggested, check with a quality mechanical gauge and if possible, do a running oil check to see if the oil is aerated. The running check involves bleeding some oil off under pressure and should not be done unless you are confident you know how to do it. Get who ever did the cam install to check the pressure just to be safe, your gauge could be out a bit but if it's changed since cam install i'd be concerned!!!!

Mine idles at 40psi hot or cold. How did you get it to run at 80psi - stretch the relief spring? Looks like i will be taking it back to Electronic Automotive to see what they think hopefully they dont give me the run around I dont think he dropped the sump to install the double row timing chain I gave him a brand new O-ring so aslong as they installed it right it should be fine but i have a funny feeling that they didnt, they had a massive amount of work going on when they did my work and i rember the guy telling me he was finishing the install on my car like 6pm on a saturday so attention to detail wasnt at its highest.

Way too low, should be around 30psi when at operating temp. Mine runs about 42 cold to a consistent 30 psi when operating temp regardless of hot or cold days. Running Repsol 10w Readings courtesy of Aeroforce : Hopefully a sender unit or gauge. Much easier than engine out if it's a bearing problem.
