Looking back though, was it really that bad? There is a population of players that say the game is one of the most underrated RPGs out there. The recycled dungeons were one of Dragon Age 2's most major flaws.
You would visit a mine at one point and then visit a mage hideout and find out that these two places are actually the same map! It is the same place, but now serving a different purpose at a different location.
Even hardcore fans found this flaw to be pretty unforgivable, as the most basic of video games do not dungeon recycle. The writing of Dragon Age games never ceases to impress. As usual, like Origins , a lot of love and thought went into the characters. All of the characters have different ideas and morals, and when you learn their backstories, their personalities and flaws make sense!
Also, in a true Dragon Age fashion, a lot of lore and world-building are tucked into the stories behind these characters. They were built by society, and it is a treat to learn from them. While Origins explored forests, the Deep Roads, the capital of Ferelden, and so much more, Dragon Age 2 takes place in just one city. While Kirkwall is a city with a ton of personality and different parts to visit, it is a far cry from the massive world introduced in Origins.
Luckily, Bioware learned from this mistake. Inquisition had huge maps with a ton of exploring involved. The main character's family is rarely part of an RPG. They are usually all dead or out of the picture. In Hawke's case though, they are very involved. You don't just have a backstory and go on an adventure. Your family and past are always with you. Dragon Age 2 took everything that Origins stood for and tore it to peices with a rushed story that was terrible, turning tactical team building to hack and slash button mashing, turned the diologue between characters into akwardness and sex, and is riddled with so many boring missons and plot holes you wont know what's going on.
Also note that the term Dragon Age, refers to the existance to dragons, in which only exist in Dragon Age 2 in an optional side mission. So no. While it is definitely nowhere near as good as Origins I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a terrible game though.
It has it's flaws, the combat is definitely hack n slash and the environments are recycled a lot - you can go into two completely different caves and they would be exactly the same for example. Pretty much how Mass Effect 1 environments were basically the same in side quest interiors which didn't get nearly as much criticism for it.
I actually thought the story was ok, the characters I liked or disliked but in a good way if you get what I mean. Ostatnio edytowany przez: Kenny ; 4 maja o Though many call it a bad game I enjoyed it. It's not as good as Origins but I've still played through it a few times. I prefer the game play style in DA2 over Origins but Origins has an overall better feel to it. I'm playing Origins right now and afterwords I'm going to play 2, I'm getting pumped for Inquisition. First poster is exaggerating quite a bit Not a great game but still enjoyable. GingerRocker Zobacz profil Zobacz posty. DragonSeeker Zobacz profil Zobacz posty. I liked DA 2. Beat it twice. I don't mind it because I like the fast action games. If you've played it and reckon its naff, you're not worth convincing. You had your chance and you blew it. And if you are a newbie, I wouldn't even recommend starting with Dragon Age 2.
Though the three games feature different protagonists and are far more distinct than the Shepard-driven story of the Mass Effect trilogy, they should be played in order.
That's not because Dragon Age: Origins is the best - it's actually the worst, if you ask me - but because it makes sense, both from a narrative point of view and in terms of BioWare's evolution as a developer, it's worth playing Origins, then 2, then Inquisition. If you only have time for one? Sure, make it Dragon Age 2.
But also, make more time in your life for Dragon Age games, my guy. But I suppose I shouldn't waste this opportunity to wax lyrical about Dragon Age 2. Best protagonist in the series?
Hawke and Ladyhawke. Best companion? Best setting? Best boss battle? Best guy who shouts 'Enchantment! That guy who shouts 'Enchantment! See what all these things have in common? Dragon Age 2, baby. Okay, enchantment boy - Sandall, if you're nasty - is also in Origins, but you see what I'm saying, right?
